Valentine’s Day is synonymous with chocolate, but it doesn’t mean that you need to be celebrating the day with calories. This quick and easy chocolate brownie recipe is a staple at my house anytime of the year. This recipe is simple to make and simply delicious with fewer calories, carbs, and saturated fat. Using applesauce makes the brownies virtually fat free. Make them for your family. Part of expressing love is to take care of what we love.
Nonstick Cooking spray
1 (18.3 ounce) package of your favorite brownie mix
½ cup water
½ cup unsweetened applesauce
2 large egg whites
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Coat a 13 x 9 inch pan with cooking spray or you can line the pan with parchment paper.
Combine brownie mix, water, applesauce and egg whites in a large bowl. Beat 50 strokes by hand.
Spread batter in prepared pan (feel free to sprinkle on sea salt for touch of salty sweetness)
Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Cool on wire rack.
