Efficiency Maine

Have You Heard About Efficiency Maine?

The Efficiency Maine Trust is the administrator for programs to improve the efficiency of energy use and reduce greenhouse gases in Maine. The Trust serves all sectors and all regions of the state. Its suite of nationally recognized programs provides consumer information, discounts, rebates, loans and investments for high-efficiency, clean energy equipment and strategies to manage energy demand. The Trust is a quasi-state agency governed by a Board of Trustees with oversight from the Maine Public Utilities Commission.

Programs and incentive vary, but typically involve energy use reduction in areas of lighting, heating, cooling, appliances, insulation, and air sealing.

As of March 2024, Efficiency Maine currently has several great rebates available including up to $8000 in air sealing / insulation rebate. So if you've been wanting to invest in weatherization upgrades for you home, this would be a great incentive to start to process.

Efficiency Maine also offers a variety of home energy loans to help you pay for energy upgrades. However, with the recent increase in home values, some home owners may find that they may be able to access equity in their homes for a potentially lower interest rate.

Want to see if there are some other offerings you could benefit from? Check out Efficiency Maine's list of incentives for energy efficiency upgrades for your home. Real estate investors and owners of 5+ unit multifamily buildings can check out this list of incentives for energy efficiency upgrades for work.

In addition to rebate programs, the Efficiency Maine website also serves as a great resource of energy and money saving tips that you can tackle on your own and/or hire something else to help complete.
