Percy's Table

Fresh Homemade Breakfast and Lunch in a Rustic American Atmosphere

You know a restaurant is going to be good when so many of your friends have raved about it and there is always a line of customers patiently waiting for Sunday Brunch. Percy’s Table is worth the wait. It does not disappoint. At Percy’s Table, a locally owned family restaurant located in Standish, Maine, they are committed to serving fresh homemade breakfast and lunch. The space is warm and inviting with its rustic Americana design and homey atmosphere that welcomes all diners. This month as we honor our Veterans, Percy’s Table shows year round support to our military by offering their first cup of coffee free, with a military ID.

This restaurant prepares delicious home cooked meals, served with pride, and obviously made with love. On each visit I have faced the quandary of what to select from the menu, with so many tasty choices. Earlier this summer I brought my daughter and grand dog Ferris for a Sunday brunch. In front of the restaurant there are several picnic tables for outdoor dining, perfect for al fresco dining with your four footed friend. Percy’s Table is also a great choice for my daughter who is vegetarian. The vegetarian options included vegetarian sweet potato hash, the veggie “benny”, and the veggie scramble.

My most recent visit was with my photographer friend. It was her first time. We both went for the cider brisket hash which was a complete meal by itself but made even more filling with sides of eggs, bacon, and french toast with real maple syrup locally sourced from Merrifield Farm in Gorham.

They also serve impressive buffets for special occasions like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Easter. On these holidays they serve the usual breakfast offerings of eggs, pancakes, french toast, bacon, and home fries, and then add to the menu lineup food selections like biscuits and gravy, cheesecake blintzes, fresh fruit platters, crepe stations, and hot honey fried chicken on biscuits. It is a smorgasbord of offerings all for one price. These special menus would solve my dilemma of what to choose. I could try a sampling of all.

The waitstaff are genuinely friendly and keep their calm, smiling even at times when the line is out the door and especially when customers may be frazzled. Every visit to Percy’s Table has been a great experience with delicious food and friendly service. No wonder friends rave about this restaurant.

Small Business Saturday in Freeport

This holiday season, instead of rushing around shopping at crowded malls, dealing with long lines and retail shortages, shop at your local small shops. Here are some I visited in Freeport.

Antiquing in Cornish

Cornish is the perfect place to stretch your legs — and go on an antiques-shopping spree. The small village, on Route 25, contains a half-dozen or so antiques shops, and there are many more scattered throughout the town.
