Apple Wine Sauce

About This Recipe

This vintage recipe comes from the mom of client Patty Lawson. It was a childhood favorite made often during the fall apple picking season. Patty is carrying on the tradition with apples freshly picked from the orchard. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon on a beautiful fall day in Maine.

Ingredients & Instructions

1 stick Oleo (margarine)

1 tsp cinnamon

1 cup white wine

1 cup sugar

4 cups sliced apples

2 tbsp lemon juice

1 ½ tsp vanilla

Over medium heat melt margarine then add wine. Stir in apples, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon over apples and continue cooking for 10 mins. Stir in lemon and vanilla and simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Can be served warm or cold. Store in refrigerator.
