I constantly scour thrift stores, rummage/tag sales, and church bazaars for fun finds for both my home and fashion style. Someone’s trash becomes my treasure. What may be considered unwanted objects to be unceremoniously cleaned from Nana’s estate might just be the items that become my new cherished heirlooms. The thrill is in the hunt. I find unique one-of-a-kind objet d'art, quirky decor, amazing jewelry, and sometimes actual valuable vintage treasures. Oftentimes, these finds make up the core of my staging inventory. Otherwise, they are finding a new purpose in my home. When I uncover a Roseville vase at Goodwill or find a Majolica piece at a yard sale, I am giddy with delight. But I am over-the-moon ecstatic when I find vintage Shiny-Brites to add to my ever growing collection. Even better is that I find these treasures at a fraction of the cost that you would pay at a high end antique store with their curated inventory.
This is the time of year that I find seasonal decor items at the local thrift stores and Christmas themed jewelry at church fairs. It makes me happy. You can find seasonal serving platters, complete dish sets, tree ornaments, and a host of other decorations for your table centerpiece or mantle. Since the prices are so inexpensive, I can use the pieces this year for a specific design trend and then donate them when the season ends. It’s recycling at its best.
Check out a few of my treasure finds at my home and other seasonal decor inventory at local thrift shops. I would love to see photos of your “finds” for Christmas decorating. Just remember, it doesn’t need to cost a fortune to “decorate the halls” for Christmas.
