Two Lights State Park

Stop and Smell the Sea Roses

Maine summers are undeniably wonderful. Especially after a long haul of a winter. All the greens and blues of the trees, sky, and waters are a treat for the eyes and for the soul. Add in the sights and sounds of Maine's rocky coast, the crashing ocean waves, and the scents of the ocean and sea roses and you've got yourself a perfect nature outing. Two Lights State Park in Cape Elizabeth has all of this and more.

The "more" includes oceanside and forested trails, tucked away picnic spots with grills, benches overlooking scenic vistas, grassy expanses, playground equipment, clean restrooms with running water, and plenty of parking.

Two Lights is my favorite state park. I make it a point to visit for some oceanside grilling at least once a year (more if I'm lucky). I've been in every season and always appreciate the escape into nature.

There is a fee to get into the park, but it is well worth the cost of admission. As of writing this (in June 2021), the fee schedule is as follows:

  • Adult Maine Resident - $5

  • Maine Residents 65 and older - Free

  • Children under 5 - Free

  • Children 5-11 - $1

  • Adult Non Resident - $7

  • Senior Non Resident - $2

Free Admission on Maine Resident Day

Sunday, June 20, 2021 is Maine Resident Day. This is a special event in which all Maine residents receive free day-use admission to most Maine State Parks and Historic Sites from 9:00 am to closing. There are a few exceptions on the list, so please check the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands' website for more information.
