April showers brought May flowers, and now we are into summer flower gardens and vegetable crops. You can find a wide assortment of flowers and vegetables along with so much more products at the Greater Gorham Farmers Market. The market opened May 1st and can be found at the municipal parking lot behind the Baxter Memorial Library in Gorham on Saturday mornings 8:30am-12:30pm, May to October. Now in its eleventh year, the market continues to grow adding new vendors each year. Along with numerous local farms, the vendors include homemade granola, beekeeper, quilter, and for those with backyard chickens, mealworms are being sold.
Here is just a sampling of some of the farms that have showcased their products at the market: Glad Harvest Farm, Noisy Acres Farm which specializes in Goat’s Milk Soap, herbal body care products & farm stand cheeses, and one of my personal favorites is Ferris Farm offering locally grown flowers. The latter 2 farms are in Buxton. If you are looking for the focaccia, baked breads or chocolate croissants from Glad Harvest Farm, be sure to arrive at the market when it opens because these delicious baked goods sell out fast.
Rain or Shine they will be there for you. Support our local small businesses and farms and shop local!
