Meet the animals at Pineland Farms and get your boots dirty while lending a hand to help with seasonal farm chores designed for younger friends. *Program may vary due to the nature of a working farm. Other dates available.

Garden Tour 6/25/2024

Enjoy a tour and relax in the beautiful garden surroundings at Pineland Farms. Stroll the paths and mingle with friends. They’ll be there to answer your garden questions, and light refreshments will be served. Other dates also available.

Native Plants Sale & Festival 6/8/2024

It's the annual Maine Audubon Native Plants Festival and Sale, featuring more than 75 species of native wildflowers, shrubs, and tree seedlings. There will also be native plants workshops, info tables, expert advice, books, food trucks and more!

Maine's Ultimate Yardsale 6/8/2024

Over 200 Yard-Sellers and 5,000+ buyers come together for the single biggest event of it's kind in Maine. If you have items to sell and want to make money, this is the event for you. If you love shopping and buying, this is the event for you. Either way, this event is for you. Note this is a CASH ONLY event. There will not be ATMs on premise.

Rangeley Birding Festival 6/7-9/2024

From Boreal Chickadees in our vast forests to Loons on our magnificent lakes to the rare Bicknell’s Thrush in the high peaks above, the Rangeley Region is rich with birds. Add in both migrating and breeding warblers, and you have a unique opportunity to see and learn about birds that are difficult to find in other parts of Maine, all in one weekend!

Maine Pottery Tour 5/4-5/5/2024

Every year on the first weekend in May, pottery and ceramics studios in Maine open their doors to the public. It's a fun day and a chance meet the artists, peek in the kilns, see demonstrations, and shop for pottery and other handmade goods.

Maine Maple Sunday Weekend 3/23 & 3/24/2024

Spring is a great time to get out and enjoy the great State of Maine and everything that it has to offer, including Maine Maple Syrup. Most sugarhouses offer maple syrup samples and demonstrations on how pure Maine maple syrup is made. Many farms offer games, activities, treats, sugarbush tours, music, and so much more. Maine Maple Sunday is always the fourth Sunday in March although some sugarhouses are offering events for both Saturday and Sunday (March 23-24, 2023). Please be sure to read the description of each sugarhouse to know what times they will be open and the activities they offer.

Portland Symphony Orchestra (ongoing events)

Founded in 1924, the Portland Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is widely regarded as one of the top symphony orchestras of its size in the country. The symphony's mission is to serve their community by enriching lives through music. 

Freeport Chocolate Festival 3/2/2024

The third annual Freeport Chocolate Festival features DIY candy bar-crafting at Wilbur's, Freeport's favorite chocolate factory, samples all across town from the top candy makers in the state, plus s'mores and tractor rides at Wolfe's Neck Center! ​Stay toasty with bonfires and hot chocolate all around town, and don't miss exclusive one-day discounts and giveaways throughout Freeport.

Belfast Ice Festival 2/23-25/2024

Take a walk and visit the ice sculptures that will be located throughout downtown Belfast. Take a break and have a drink at one of the ice bars, or participate in one of the many outdoor activities Belfast has to offer throughout the winter. If you’re visiting from out of town, make it a weekend!

Winter Wildlife Tracks 2/17/2024

Join Samantha Wolf, Scarborough Land Trust’s Stewardship Director, for a two-part workshop on identifying wildlife tracks! Practice identifying the parts of the track and look for common species.

 Snowshoe Tour of Pleasant Hill Preserve 2/10/2024

Join Diane Neal, Scarborough Land Trust Board Member, for a guided snowshoe tour of Pleasant Hill Preserve. This will be a leisurely walk on flat terrain. Frozen ground will allow participants to see areas of the preserve that are not accessible during the rest of the year. The trails at Pleasant Hill provide spectacular views but winter allows access to even more areas of the property.

Contemplative Winter Walk 2/4/2024

The Contemplative Winter Walk is part of a year-long series of contemplative nature walks that honor the seasons and nurture connection with the natural world. A celebration of seasons, this series of contemplative walks features reflection, gratitude, and nature ID.

Winter Women's Walk 1/27/2024

Join fellow women who enjoy the outdoors and have a desire to walk the wonderful open spaces Scarborough Land Trust has committed to preserving. Women are twice as likely as men to feel uncomfortable walking alone, so a suggestion was made that we explore a women’s walking group or series of events.

Winter Tree ID Walk 1/21/2024

In Maine, our trees are leafless for half of the year or more, so we must find other clues to tell them apart when they are dormant. On this walk you will learn to identify common trees by their buds, twigs, bark, and structure.

Maine Celebration of Lights 11/24 - 12/30, 2023

Holiday light show in Cumberland, Maine featuring more than a 1 mile of roadway transformed into a glittering display of over 1 million LED lights, featuring animated scenes, a 300’ multi-color tunnel, and displays as much as 50’ tall. If you are looking to see a holiday light show in Maine, this is an attraction not to be missed!

Magic of Christmas - thru 12/17/2023

Enjoy this cherished holiday tradition (now in its 44th year!) preformed by the Portland Symphony Orchestra in person or online! Magic of Christmas will be led by Music Director Eckart Preu and feature special guests. Celebrate the season with Christmas classics new and old – including the beloved “Sleigh Ride”!

Christmas at Victoria Mansion 11/24/2023 - 1/7/2024

During the holiday season, many of the community’s leading and up-and-coming florists, designers, artists, and fellow non-profit organizations use the backdrop of the Mansion’s interior design to create unique decorations that emulate Victorian-era splendor. Now in its fourth decade, this annual event welcomes thousands of visitors each year. The 2023 theme is Colors of the Season.

44th Annual Christmas in New England Arts and Craft Show 11/25 - 11/26, 2023

The largest craft show of the season, held at the Augusta Civic Center, featuring local artists and crafters from Maine and New England

The Snowflake Trail 11/10 - 11/12, 2023

The Snowflake Trail is an annual open house of small businesses in Limington, Limerick, and Newfield, Maine on Veteran's Day weekend.  (In recent years, they've have added a summer trail in July called The Sunshine Trail.) Follow the trail and enjoy local, craft-brewed beer, hand-made artisan French style chocolates, Maine Maple syrup, local foods, meet talented artists and craftsmen, admire the handiwork of local artists, quilters, explore for antiques, enjoy the delights of an alpaca farm. In addition, visit a turkey farm to taste the delights of home made turkey pot pie, and learn about outdoor cooking from award winning pitmasters.

Annual Bake Sale & Craft Fair 11/4/2023

It's time for the Annual Craft Fair and Bake Sale! The Italian Heritage Center has a huge turnout with the fair, bake sale, raffles, Italian lunch, and 50/50! Mark your calendars!

Cumberland County Fair 9/24 - 9/30, 2023

The 151st Cumberland County Fair will be held on September 24 - 30, 2023, and will include rodeo, harness racing, rides, parade, demolition derby, horse pull, draft horse and pony show, classic car show, antique tractor show and pull, 4-H shows and exhibits, livestock shows and sale, giant pumpkin/squash weigh-in, entertainment, vendors, food, and more.

Maine Open Lighthouse Day 9/9/2023

This popular annual event, which is sponsored by the United States Coast Guard, the Maine Office of Tourism, and the American Lighthouse Foundation, attracts between 15,000 to 18,000 visitors each year and offers the general public the rare opportunity to climb and learn about more than a dozen historic Maine lights.

Great Falls Balloon Festival 8/18 - 8/20, 2023

Support the communities of Lewiston and Auburn by attending a the weekend celebration of hot air balloons with balloon rides, a parade, food and craft vendors, entertainment, and a carnival.

Art in the Park 8/12/2023

South Portland's annual Art in the Park Show & Sale is a summer favorite of participating artists and the public. Held on the second Saturday in August in beautiful Mill Creek Park, the show features original art and photography by up to 170 artists, a food court, and music in the afternoon.

What started as an idea for a local marine festival to revive Midcoast Maine communities has turned into an internationally-recognized celebration of local seafood. 

Yarmouth Clam Festival 7/21-7/23/2023

A tradition since 1965, the Yarmouth Clam Festival is a joyous three-day extravaganza that celebrates the bivalve with clam-related events like a shucking contest, as well as live entertainment, an arts and crafts fair, endless amount of fair food and the famous parade. And of course, plenty of clams!

Spring Farmyard Helper 6/17/2023

Add a little excitement to your day and join Pineland Farms in the Family Farmyard for a specially designed program for the older kiddos. Your hands will get a little dirty while you get an up close and personal experience with their resident farm animal personalities. You will be in and amongst the animals and gardens. Please wear appropriate attire. Other dates available.

Gorham Summer Thursdays 6/1-9/28/2023

Weekly food truck event held at Little Falls Recreation Area (664 Gray Road) in Gorham. This Town-administered event is 4-8pm every Thursday (weather permitting) with a rotating selection of ~7-8 vendors each week. Family-friendly with ample green space, music, and lawn games. It’s the perfect way to spread out and enjoy a Maine summer afternoon at its finest.

Full Moon Hike 6/4/2023

Bring some friends or family and join Pineland Farms for a full moon hike departing from the Pineland Farms Outdoor Center. Enjoy a lit firepit and great views of the Full Moon and the surrounding stars. During this outing you will be learning how to read our trail maps and locate where you are on the trails, how to prep for hiking adventures, proper hiking attire, responsible leave no trace principals, hiking etiquette, wildlife / insect protection, and much more!

Centennial Celebration Weekend: 100 Years of Children’s Theatre 5/18 - 5/21/2023

The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine is proud to celebrate 100 years of theatre for young audiences with a weekend of theatre festival magic! Fifteen plays inspired by Museum & Theatre exhibits and written by youth and adult playwrights will be performed by local actors on both Saturday, May 20, and Sunday, May 21. Hands-on activities, puppet-making, and surprises round out the festivities. 

Old House Emporium 4/29 & 4/30/2023

Snowshoe Tour of Fuller Farm 2/18/2023

Frozen ground will allow participants to see areas of the preserve that are not accessible during the rest of the year. The Overlook Trail at Fuller provides beautiful winter views of the fields.

Winter Wildlife Tracks 2/9/2023

Join Sami Wolf, Scarborough Land Trust’s Stewardship Director, for a program on identifying wildlife tracks in the snow! This program will feature an introduction to wildlife tracking followed by practicing these new skills in the field. Learn how to identify tracks based on the parts of the track, overall shape, gait pattern, and size. Look for common species such as fox, bobcat, river otter, turkey, coyote, and more!

Fryeburg Fair 10/2 - 10/9, 2022

Maine's largest agricultural fair second in New England in size only to Eastern States in Massachusetts. Today Fryeburg Fair sits on 185 acres and has over 100 buildings. The eight-day fair hosts over 3,000 animals including prize-winning draft horses, ponies, racing horses, oxen, dairy & beef cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, rabbits and much more. Maine's Blue Ribbon Classic is always during the first week in October.

Maine Micro Fall at the Farm Artisan Fair - Gorham 10/1/2022

This event will feature dozens of artisans from all over Maine with their handmade goods. Soaps, woodcrafts, leather goods, pottery, toys, puzzles, sewn craft, macrame, folk art, crochet, knit, resin art, jewelry. Stroll the farm's walking trails, check out the orchards, meet the animals, grab a bite to eat at the restaurant, and relax at the picnic tables.

The Common Ground County Fair 9/23 - 9/25, 2022

Portland Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Care (PVESC), is proud to support Pet Rock in the Park! BeeWise Honey Bee Pollen & Nectar Map

Looking for a fun activity to do? Take a picture of a honey bee pollinating in your community, and help scientists learn more about bees' preferred foraging conditions. This project is mapping honey bee pollen and nectar sources all over the world. The goal is to identify the flower species that the honey bee is collecting nectar or pollen from. Make sure to get a good picture of the flower that the honey bee is collecting from. Include the time of year, and local temperature in the area where the honey bee was recorded.


Guardians of the Seeds

This summer, go all-in on an experience that will stick with you for the rest of your life. Included with regular admission at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, you can discover giant trolls hidden throughout the native, natural wooded areas. Danish artist Thomas Dambo’s magical, mysterious, and mammoth recycled-wood sculptures help set the stage to focus on Maine’s woods, from their history to their sustainability. This summer, our trolls will help you discover new ways to lose—and find—yourself in our forests.
